For every conversation, promotion, appearance it is necessary to know beforehand to whom we are talking to, his/her marital status, current occupation, business desires, education, goals and ambitions.
It is not necessary to write long analyses. You need to describe in a couple of sentences the main characteristics and potential ambitions of a person/company with whom/which you intend to negotiate.
Put yourself in the role of the person/company with whom/which you need to have a conversation and ask yourself the questions to which you should provide answers.
If you do not know all the answers, consult with your mentors and superiors from your company.
